Erev Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah, September 23, 2014
The sounds of the shofar call us to attention, to awaken from slumber, for something new is about to happen, prepare for breakthrough, fill your hearts with great expectation, for King Messiah is coming! V’eemru? (And let us say?)
Tonight, let’s really pay attention and hear the sounds of the shofar.
Tekiah! Tekiah is a single blast, calling us to attention—awake from your slumber of routine, habits, inertia, for something new is about to happen, the King is coming!
A car company recently came out with a commercial about people living according to script. A man named Carl lives in a scripted life. He reads from a script at work; he reads from a script while walking down the street, while playing racquetball, at dinner parties, even out jogging. He is finally saved one day when his wife drives up. He drops the script, hops in the car, while his jogging buddy cries out, Carl?! “Break from the script.”
How many of you feel like you need to break from the script—the script of routine or ordinariness? How many of you are aware that the Ruach Elohim is calling you out of your comfort zone? How many of you yearn to break free from habits that seem to hold you down? How many know you need to break free from sinful patterns or know that the Lord has set you free, yet still struggle to walk in the freedom of the Ruach? How many of you have been battling with the tsouris or troubles of life? You know that your warfare is not with flesh and blood but with invisible spiritual forces, yet you find yourself frequently fending off fiery arrows with your shield of faith? How many of you know HaShem is calling you higher? The shofar sounds for you! The blast of tekiah is the wind of the Ruach proclaiming that something new is at hand.
For so the Rabbi of Galilee proclaimed: “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand!” It’s available to you, now. You don’t have to live according to the world’s script any longer! It’s time to live according to God’s plans—for surely the Creator has better plans for you! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans that I have in mind for you,” declares ADONAI, “plans for shalom and not calamity—to give you a future and a hope.” V’eemru?
Shevarim! Shevarim is a broken sound, actually broken in three pieces. The Hebrew word shevarim means broken or broken in pieces. How many of you hear a wailing sound, or a groan, like an intercessory prayer, or a cry for help? Yet the message of shevarim is: “Do not be broken-hearted!” For Isaiah 42:3 offers hope: “A bruised reed He will not break (yi-sh’bor) and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice.” This verse refers to Messiah the servant, who has compassion for those who feel broken or oppressed, will cause the fire of His Spirit to glow in you, and promises to brings justice for you. Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted “sh’viroo lev” and binds up their wounds.” He promises healing; moreover, something new is about to happen!
Lift up your heads, you ancient doors, for the King of glory is coming! V’eemru?
Something new is at hand: The spring festivals were the first act—at Passover, Yeshua suffered and dead become the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, on Firstfruits rose from the dead, and on Shavuot poured out His Spirit on His disciples. Since then we’ve been in a long intermission; Leviticus 23:22 says this is the season of harvest, and leaving gleanings for the poor. The shofars of Yom Teruah (on the first day of the seventh month, “the head of the year” or Rosh HaShanah) announce the sudden start of the second act—with the return of the King and Judge, the Messiah. Yom Kippur is His second coming and all Israel is saved through Messiah’s atonement. Finally Sukkot ushering in the Millennial Kingdom of our Lord and Messiah, when, as Zechariah 14:16 foretells, all nations will worship the King in Jerusalem—and who else could the nations worship but the King who is also God? Something new is afoot. V’eemru?
How many began to experience healing or deliverance with Tzofiya and Avi came with their prophetic ministry a month ago? You have been given new freedom—now it is your responsibility, our responsibility, to walk in it! Yet do not walk alone; walk in the Spirit, the Ruach Elohim, will guide you!
T’ruah! T’ruah is a sound of staccato blasts—an alarm, a battle cry. Numbers 10:5, “But when you blow an alarm (t’ruah), the camps that are pitched on the east side shall set out.” T’ruah means move out! It’s time to war and it’s time to break through! For you do not battle alone, for your battle is our battle and our battle is the Lord’s. V’eemru?
Soldiers are not supposed to fight battles by themselves, but in battalions, armies, and battle groups. T’ruah means the whole host of Israel was to move out, by clans and by tribes. When we heed the call together, we can be confident, For Adonai Tzva’ot—the Lord of armies—is the Master of Breakthroughs! V’eemru?
A couple of weeks ago, some of us attended a gathering of One Voice leaders and congregations at Templo El Refugio. A prophet from England, Dennis Cramer, spoke many words over many of us. Here is what he said to all of us corporately: “Members of One Voice, the Lord would say: ‘I have reserved the release of my power. I have withheld revelation and direction and prediction. This is the time for new direction, when revelation will flow. I will take you by the hand and I will lead you down a path that you have never known. The unknown awaits, One Voice.’ Now the Lord would say, ‘I have already been to your future. I will lead and direct this group and you will go to places where you have never gone before and see things that you have never seen before.’ The Lord reminds you that His ways and not your ways and His thoughts are not your thoughts. So open up your mind and heart, because ‘I am going to take you down a path that you have never known before… .I make all things new; I erase the past; I take the stress and the burden off of all the ministries.’ Now God is charting a new course, because these are the days that I release My power, and that power is being released. Even things of 20 or 30 years ago are going to be accelerated. These are the days of authority in the Spirit of God. These are the days of release of the Spirit of God.’ The Lord is going to place favor over the men and women of One Voice, favor in the body, favor in the community, favor in the state. The Lord would say, “I am already moving behind the scenes. There will be miracles, breakthrough, and breakout. Since you have been praying, morning, noon, and night, I must answer: I am releasing the angel of breakthrough and he shall work on your behalf and he shall make the impossible, possible. The enemy has targeted your prayers to diffuse them and take away the power of God from them. The same principalities that resisted Daniel, the spirit of the prince of Persia, along with all other wickedness, are coming down. Breakthrough, breakthrough, breakthrough!’ The Lord says. ‘You are going to do it, for I am going to do it. So you better start praising Me now! Seek, knock, for these are the days of fulfillment for One Voice,’ says the Lord.”
How many of you bear witness in your spirit that the Spirit of God is speaking this word to us now? How many of you bear witness that the time of “breakthrough, breakthrough, breakthrough” is at hand? How many of you have received new spiritual gifts of prophecy, supernatural knowledge, or healing? How many of you are responding to a call to discipleship in deliverance ministry? How many of you know the Lord is calling you to seek and knock, and to expect breakthrough this year in your own walk with the Lord, overcoming obstacles, within and/or without?
The night Denny Cramer came, I also had to attend a Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission. It was a breakthrough that I was even there, because they wanted me to table my presentation, again, this time even before I got to the hearing! But people were praying, and the Lord brought about a reversal and then the breakthrough: the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend our variances.
Then I drove over to the One Voice gather, and just before I walked in, Pastor Tim Helms introduced Denny Cramer to Pamela, who said that she was representing Glenn… and then I walked in, and everyone turned to look at me and there was a great cry as I walked down the aisle, like a bridegroom.
Last night, I went before the Township Zoning Board. It took an hour and a half, as our attorney laid our case, first interviewing our engineer, and the Board asked him many questions, than interviewing me, and the Board asked me many questions… our case took nearly an hour and a half… In the end, the Zoning Board voted unanimously… yes to approve all our variances,. Baruch HaShem! Hallelujah!
Yeshua is the Master of Breakthroughs! There will be many adventures on this journey; we’ll follow Yeshua thru one at a time— firming up our plans (the building committee will meet with our local architect John Lee tomorrow afternoon, reviewing designs from General Steel), and then preparing to launch fund-raising with Daniah Greenberg (Visionary and President of the Tree of Life Bible project) on November 1.
Tekiah G’dolah! Tekiah G’dolah means the great blast, a long blast that fills our hearts with expectation & hope, for the King, Messiah, is coming! “Shout for the LORD has given you the city!”
A day is coming soon, a Yom Teruah coming soon, when the Bridegroom, will come down the aisle, from highest heaven to the heaven over the earth. Yeshua looked forward to the coming of the bridegroom, e.g., in the parable of the ten bridesmaids in Matthew 25:6, “at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’” Along with the shout was the cry of the shofar, tekiah g’dolah!
In Matthew 24:31, Yeshua foretells, “He will send out his angels with a great shofar; and they will gather together His chosen people from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” What an awesome vision! Expect it! Expect Yeshua to gather together His chosen people from the four winds—because He is already doing it! Isn’t He? Expect Him to break through the gates of hell for the kedoshim whom He loves—because He has done that, too. Didn’t He? Won’t He break through for you and for us? Could anything or anyone high or low, or any created thing, hinder Him? No, only our own unbelief and sin could separate us from His undying love for us—and He is relentlessly loyal to His chosen people. Therefore, expect it! Expect Him to come through for you, to come for His bride!
1 Thessalonians 4:16 says, “For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the blast of God’s shofar.” In that day, Yeshua will His faithful kedoshim higher. How many want to go higher with Yeshua? How many of you are looking forward to that day, with great expectation? You should! For the Lord commands us to prepare and be ready for that day. Today is the day of salvation, the day of victory! Today is the day to go higher with Yeshua! V’eemru?
That’s why He gave us Yom Teruah, so that we would awaken from our slumber and be attentive to what the Spirit of God is saying to us as He blows through the shofar! “Turn away from your sins, for the kingdom of heaven is near!” Turn away from your script of ordinariness, for a time of supernatural restoration and order is at hand! Turn away from your comfort zone, for it is time for you to fulfill the plans God has for you, for us! Turn away from your habits and your sinful patterns, for when the Spirit of Messiah has set you free, then you are free indeed! Put on the armor of God, be accountable to the Lord of armies—as well as His captains and lieutenants—for a teruah has sounded, and it is time to move out! Turn away for any weariness or discouragement with battling, for the battle is the Lord!
Now, look up, for the time of breakthrough is at hand! Look up! For God is charting a new course, for which He will release His power! Look up! For it is a time for newness and breakthroughs! Expect it! Look up! For it is the first day of the seventh month, the intermission is nearly over and the second act is about to commence! Look up! For the Lord of armies is calling you higher—calling us all higher! V’eemru?
